Dear Neighbors,
Thank you for your ongoing patience as renovation work continues at Friends Seminary. Over the next several weeks our construction manager will continue to prepare for the forthcoming interior and rear demolition of the Townhouse buildings on 16th Street, which is planned to commence before the end of September. The Townhouse demolition will be carried out systematically and with hand held tools, a process designed with the specific intent of minimizing noise. The demolition is expected to take between 4 to 6 weeks to complete. Once the interior and rear areas are taken down, our construction manager can begin the process of foundation work and reframing the buildings, working toward their reconstruction. Work in the Townhouses is vital to the school’s academic program. Once complete, the Townhouse buildings will be 100% ADA accessible with improved classroom spaces. As well, this project will result in the restoration and enhancement of the historic Townhouse façades.
Over the next several months, work hours will shift slightly during demolition to include Mondays-Fridays from 7 AM – 9 PM (currently 7 AM - 6 PM), while Saturdays remain the same, 9 AM - 5 PM. Please know that our construction managers continue to do everything possible to mitigate dust and noise during construction. The safety and security of our school community and neighbors is our utmost concern.
Respectfully,
Friends Seminary
