Construction Activities for May 7 - June 30

Dear Neighbors, Our redevelopment project has just passed an important milestone—excavation is completed. More than one hundred 15-yard containers of soil were removed during this process. We thank you for your patience over the last few months, and are pleased to be able to say that the Bobcat, backhoes and jackhammers will be leaving the site in the coming days.

The following is an overview of construction activities on the Townhouse buildings (212-216 East 16th Street) that will be taking place in the upcoming six-week period.

Please note that from May 7-18, construction work hours will run from 7 AM - 9 PM. During this time, there will be cement truck deliveries along 16th Street to pour the new basement slab and foundation walls. While the crane is onsite all deliveries to the project will be through 15th Street. A temporary weather wall built against the east wall of Hunter Hall will be removed to allow for structural steel erection in the coming weeks. During the next two weeks while this cement work is underway, neighbors on 16th Street should anticipate seeing truck activity after 6 PM until 9 PM, Monday – Friday. Saturday hours remain 9 AM - 5 PM.

Beginning on May 21, the schedule will return to 7 AM - 6 PM Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 9 AM - 5 PM.

Also, please be advised that on May 21 a mobile hydraulic crane is scheduled to arrive on East 16th Street and will remain for about four weeks. This will require a temporary full street closure during this four-week period. As before, during summer 2016, flag persons will be onsite during crane operations to help guide pedestrians, and the school’s construction managers will coordinate with neighboring buildings on 16th Street around their access needs. Signage will be posted on 16th Street on or before May 14 to notify the block in advance of the crane’s arrival.

All work is on schedule towards the enclosure of the Townhouse buildings in fall 2018, at which point the project’s final 12 months will largely consist of interior build out, with completion planned for fall 2019.

Respectfully,

Friends Seminary
